After a huge year, leading the SEC in receptions and and receiving yards (112 and 1,477 respectively), Jordan Matthews deserves to be in the conversation for our first round pick in May. He has good size for a receiver at 6' 3", and his big plus is his consistency. He didn't have a single game with under 5 receptions this season, and he had 9 games where he went over 100 yds. These numbers cannot be overlooked for someone playing in the best conference in college football on a not so great team. Another huge plus for me was hearing about his dedication and attention to detail. As Jets fans, we remember hearing about Revis spending countless hours studying the receivers he was going to face. It was reported that before the senior bowl, Jordan asked for tape on all the corners that were going to be there. He also stayed after practice everyday at the Senior Bowl with Derek Carr, and worked on their timing and chemistry for the game. This kind of attitude toward the game rubs off on others, and that's what creates a winning culture. Consistency is something that has not appeared in the Jets offense for years, and this would be a good place to start. In an era of diva WRs, Matthews is a guy who lets his play do the talking. I say if Watkins and Evans are off of the board, Matthews is my pick in rd 1. What do ya'll think?
