I want to take some time before the big game to look at some of the key players and how they relate to the Jets.
Not unlike Obi-Wan Kenobi, Peyton Manning was unable to keep the dark lord Belichick and his young disciple from rising to power and the Jets have spent 14 years under the oppression of the empire. If not for his constant inability to stop Brady, I think the 2009 AFC Championship game should be enough to put Manning in the cons column.
Jack Del Rio, Defensive Coordinator - Denver Broncos:
Del Rio was on the Ravens coaching staff with Rex Ryan and the two remain good friends. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt since the big guy likes him. We'll call him Lando Calrissian. We can trust him right up until he sells us out to the dark side.
Wes Welker, Wide Receiver - Denver Broncos:
Boba Fett. How could we ever root for the success of a man who moved from city to city accepting whatever benefactor would pay him to be the dismay of our franchise? From San Diego to Miami to New England to Denver he is the bane of Jets fans everywhere. To wish him Boba Fett's fate of a 1000-year digestion in the Sarlaak Pit would only be a little too harsh.
Another graduate of the AFC East with a history of giving the Jets headaches. I want to hate Beast Mode for his time in Buffalo, but there's something about him that is just so endearing and lovable.
Pete Carroll, Head Coach - Seattle Seahawks:
This may be a polarizing pick, but I think Carroll is on the plus side for Seattle. Yes, he was only our head coach for one year, but his failure to succeed wasn't his fault. Carroll is our Padme Amidala. Yes, his attempts to help were in vain, but he isn't exactly happy about the empire either.
