To my knowledge, the Jets will be awarded many comp. picks this year. I have heard they will hold up to 12 selections this year.
While this is a nice alternative to the years of them having 3 to 5 picks like years with Mike T, 12 seems excessive. No way 12 draftees will make the team. I understand bringing in bodies fosters competition, but at 12 picks plus UFA, isnt that reaching the point of excessive. It seems to me like we would be wasting picks.
While I strongly disagree while trading the kings ransom to move up for Watkins, I do think moving up to get higher 2nd and 3rd round picks would be great. There we could find some legitimate plug and play starters, not potential depth. While depth is needed, getting 3-5 plug and play starters in rounds 1-4 would be incredible.
If Lee is not there for us at 18, or if we have signed Jeremy Maclin in FA before that (who in my opinion is very similar to Lee), I suggest a trade back in rd. one to the mid 20's to gain another 3rd or 4th rounder and use the pick to select Jace Amaro.
Using this new pick 3rd or 4th, we package this with our existing 2nd or 3rd to move up to the near-top of the 2nd round to pick up one of the borderline 1st round talent WR's (Jordan Matthews, Odell Beckham, etc.). I would also have no qualms taking David Yankey here, or definitely Zack Martin if he falls, as both would be top-tier guards for the next decade.
This are just pipe dreams of course, tell me how you feel
