Being that 2 years ago I accurately picked Coples in the first, and Jordan White in the 7th, I have to say that every mock I now do is going to be %100 right.
That said here is my 2014 mock draft for your New York Jets ( not including comp picks)
Round 1 pick 18 - Eric Ebron, TE, UNC
Our offense needs to be revamped. We need skill players at every position. With this years WR class being so deep, I'd rather get one of the top TE's now. Now you may ask why Ebron of Amarco. The answer really comes down to the coin I flipped. I really like both guys a ton, both bring unique skill sets and both will be pro bowl caliber Te's for a long time.
Round 2 pick 17 - Jordan Mathews ,Wr, Vanderbilt
There is no doubt that our wr corp might be the worst in football. Holmes, even when healthy, isn't that good, and won't be back next year. Hill, while I still love his size and speed, needs a crash coarse on route running and catching the ball. Kerley, while we all love him, is a nice slot receiver, not someone that really threatens an opposing defense. Mathews is a big fast receiver, that is extremely athletic. Now I would rather kelvin Benjamin here, but I don't think he lasts that long.
Round 3 pick 5 - Cyril Richardson, OG, Baylor
Winters under performed last year even though he was a rookie. There were too many times that he looked like a boy playing with men. Colon is up there in age, and has a history of getting hurt. We were fortunate that he didn't in 2013. Richardson might start at LG from day 1 and force Winters to the bench
Round 3 pick 16 - De'Anthony Thomas, RB, Oregon
Thomas is an absolute freak, If he were bigger he woukld be a first round pick. But with his skill set he can change everything about a football team. He's a guy that you kick away from in the return game, and every time hes on the field hes a threat to score. He can take handoffs, line up in the slot, lineup outside. He is a complete X factor going into every game.
Round 4 pick 15 - Michael Sam, DE, Mizz
Another freak athlete, who can start day 1 opposite Coples at OLB. It would also help him with his former teammate Sheldon Richardson guiding him through. The dude had 10.5 sacks, and 18 TFL in the SEC, does that compare with the NFL? Obviously not. But its as close as it gets.
Round 5 pick 14 - Chris Davis, CB, Auburn
He's best known for the return against Alabama, but hes a very athletic corner with lots of range. With the possibilty of not having Cro next year, we will need some depth at CB
Round 6 pick 19 - Martavis Bryant, WR, Clemson
A red zone target for Geno. Bryant isn't that fast, but hes huge. at 6'5 200lb he's a force to handle.
Round 7 pick 18 - Cassius Marsh, DE, UCLA
High motor guy with great pass rushing ability. He's extremely athletic, and can make for a great ST player.
So as you can see my draft is offense heavy, and filled with great athletes. With our current defense, and an offense with the 1 I have drafted, This can be a team that can compete for a long time.
