#18 Lamin Barrow, ILB, LSU vs Georgia '13 (via SportCutups)
2013: 91 tackles, 5.5 TFLs, 1.5 sacks
Some would say that a critical skill for a linebacker would be the ability to make a tackle at/near the line of scrimmage. Based on watching this game against Georgia, this seems like a concept that's lost on Lamin. Lamin seems to like to run around fast and arrive late to the party. When he does decide that he'd like to try to get in on a play, it seems like its a tackle thats 7, 8... 9 yards down field.
I imagine that Lamin's inner voice sounds like Gator from "The Other Guys." Lamin don't make no tackles!! You feel me?!? Lamin never been about dat, Lamin don't make no tackles." Oh Lamin... you sly dog, you. Running around all fast and not accomplishing anything. Looking all athletic as you arrive way after the play has ended. You almost had me fooled, lookin the part, but I see you.
But hey, I'm no expert. I couldn't tell you with any more certainty than anybody else who will pan out at the next level and who won't. But who the heck wants a backer that doesn't make any meaningful tackles? Yeah, you read a box score and count 8 and tell yourself that thats not too bad a game. But the tape don't lie, Lamin!! You didn't do nothin in that Georgia game, did you? Lamin don't make no tackles!!
