Geno Smith Receives Apology for Airline Incident

USA TODAY Sports

Virgin Airlines has issued Jets quarterback Geno Smith an apology for an incident on a flight last Friday.

Though there were conflicting reports that Smith was escorted off the plane by police last Friday, the airline apologized for the situation.

"After a full review of the incident, we believe it was the result of a misunderstanding that regrettably escalated unnecessarily," Virgin said in a statement. "We've apologized to Mr. Smith for his experience, which could have been better - and we'd welcome him back onboard any time. As an airline that prides itself on our guest service, we take incidents such as this one very seriously."

So I guess this story has reached its conclusion and not a second too soon. Now we can get back to discussing the things that matter, like how much Geno will improve in the 2014 season and whether he is the guy the Jets should build around going forward.
