Kelvin Benjamin vs Florida (2013) (via DCheeseB)
2013: 54 for 1011, 15 TDs
War hammers were developed as a consequence of the prevalence of surface-hardened steel surfacing of wrought iron armours of the late medieval battlefields during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Swords, or the blade of a battleaxe, were likely only to give a glancing blow, losing much of the impact, especially on the high curvature of the helmet. The war hammer could deliver the full force to the target. That is Kelvin Benjamin... blunt force trauma.
This guy shrugs off DBs. Like an orca tail slapping a seal. Like a dominant male lion snapping hyena necks. Like a bull rampaging through the crowded streets of Pamplona. 6-5, 235... when he huffs DBs muster all their strength to fight the fear. The War Hammer does not finesse, he bludgeons.
Probably like most people, I hadn't really known all that much about Benjamin before the National Championship game. Like most, I briefly tuned in to FSU games here and there throughout the season to get a glimpse of Winston. And like most, when I tuned in to the big college game I was awestruck at the size of the mutant lined up at wide receiver for FSU. He was a monster amongst children. And then he released into routes with such deftness and fluidity that all I could think... all I could say, alone in my room with me, aloud to myself was,"yo... that's not fair." It was like I was watching a giant child with a magnifying glass setting his sights on a mound of DB ants and knowing that they were about to be massacred but... I had to watch. In the end, they all died. He burned them all.
Benjamin has the size and quickness to abuse DBs on the short stuff. He has the speed and the length to be uncontainable over the top. He can run after the catch. He can "King of the Mountain" in the end-zone. He can dominate every level of any defense. He will drop a few, but he'll also make a few inhuman catches too. And the red shirt sophomore has plenty of time to fine tune his game. The War Hammer doesn't deliver glancing blows. The War Hammer delivers full force to the surface of hardened steel. The War Hammer bludgeons.
