Today two teams will join the Seahawks and the Patriots in next Sunday's Conference Championship Games. First up is a matchup of the San Francisco 49ers and the Carolina Panthers, a game that figures to be a low scoring affair pitting two of the best front sevens in football. It is the rematch of a Week 10 game in San Francisco won by the Panthers 10-9.
The Panthers won on the 49ers' home field. Today I expect San Francisco to return the favor. The Niners are a different team. This time they have Michael Crabtree. I also think Colin Kaepernick is going to have more of an impact as a runner than he did in the first meeting when he only ran 4 times for 16 yards. While San Francisco's offense has added dimensions since that first meeting, Steve Smith might be less than 100% on the Carolina side.
