Jets Senior Director of Football Administration Rod Graves is reportedly in the mix for a job in the league office.
Based on multiple reports that have surfaced over the past few weeks, four names are in contention for the job: Dolphins executive V.P. of football administration Dawn Aponte, Jets senior director of football administration Rod Graves, NFL V.P. of operations Merton Hanks, and former Chiefs G.M. and Patriots V.P. of player personnel Scott Pioli.
Graves getting this job would be a hit for the Jets on a few fronts. He was one of the most important hires John Idzik made to overhaul the front office and the organization. Losing him before that process really starts and needing to find a replacement would set the team back a little bit. A new guy would have to start fresh, and precious time that could be dedicated elsewhere would have to be spent finding a replacement.
Graves is also a very credible front office guy. His previous job was general manager of the Arizona Cardinals. He built much of the foundation you saw for their 10-6 season. I was excited when the Jets hired him.
