I'm not going to waste anyone's time with stats, especially with what I am about to say. I want the jets to lose out, hear me out before u crucify me. Listen I am a diehard Jets fan, I bleed green as they say. I have a ton of Jets "swag" or stuff, shirts, pillows, jerseys, PJs, jackets..etc. I am not a troll. Let me just say this, I'm going to take the least amount of your time as possible, I mainly want to hear other opinions on this. I brought this up over the summer, but since I've seen the Jets play and mainly the play of the front seven. I just had to bring it up again.
I want them to lose, because I want at least a top 5 draft pick, I want the Jets to be able to get Jadevon Clowney or Anthony Barr. I understand that as a fan, I shouldn't want them to lose, as a matter of fact every time they play I have an inner debate with myself. I love when they win, but I want them to lose. The way I see it, they front seven has played great without Coples, and I won't really count Coples being back. He is not himself, most players aren't coming back from a fracture, or a serious(ish) injury. So I ask u to picture this.....Imagine our current front seven, with a healthy Coples, and Clowney or Barr.
Now I am aware I am getting ahead of myself here, but I like what I have seen so far out of smith, even though it has only been 4 games. I wasn't even close to as confident about Sanchez in his first 4 games as I am about Geno. Keep in mind, Sanchez had a much better team around him in '09, and the Jets were 3-1 after the first 4 games in '09. Now for obvious reasons, I am very sad that Revis had to be traded, he needed to go though. The dude wanted more money than the Jets could pay, Revis is Revis so I wont say he wasn't worth it. I sincerely doubt(side note) that the Jets would have been able to give no guaranteed money in the contract for him.
Sorry to get sidetracked, but again just picture the jets current front, and add a healthy Coples, and Clowney. There is no way that the front seven wouldn't be the best in the NFL, and potentially historic. I mean damn, even if the Jets miss out on Clowney, and draft Barr, that would still keep opposing offensive staffs up at night.
Again I know it goes against everything that being a fan is about to even think/suggest this. I can't help but feel that the Jets would be better off for it though, and as much as I want them to win now, the disappointment of that mentality in the AFC championship years is still fresh in my mind. I believe that as we are, barring injury, the jets front will be at least good for the next ten years....with Clowney/Barr the Jets will be all-time great for the next ten years....thoughts?
