This game would be a good game to play Boss Hogg on the nose. The Titans' weakest lineman is their center (our old buddy, former backup center Robert Turner). We can stick Snacks over Warmack and negate any push they can generate that way, and put Wilk over Levitre. With the center occupied, they can't use him to offer help with Wilk. I'd also like to stick Coples on Wilk's side to occupy the OT and keep Wilk free. Wilk will dominate. Warmack is a 320 lbs beast that can grade roads like its nobodies bitniz. Well, let Warmack take his... Chances... with 350 lbs of Big Snacks. Something tells me that the worst possible outcome will be a stalemate, and stalemates are wins for the defense. But lets get back to my main point with Richardson being on the nose. I like it because I think he will not only gain penetration on most snaps, but I like him in the middle of the field where we can use his ability to chase down plays and close windows on a player like Chris Johnson. The less windows, the better. And if they do open, let them be open only briefly.
There's a few things I'd like to see us do offensively.
Firstly, I'd like to see us commit to the running game. The Titans are currently ranked 13th against the run, giving up just over a 100 yards per contest. But don't listen to those numbers, they are lying. They are padded by their game against the Steelers and Pittsburgh's (31st rank) amazingly craptastic running game. Sans Steelers, Tennessee would be yielding 137 ypg. Run the ball, Marty. And set up those bombs.
Secondly, I'd like to see us mix in the bubble-screen game as an extension of the running game, and to help flatten out the defense to help out both the run and the deep pass. Its an easy way to get Geno some easy, early down, safe throws to get him going and keep his confidence up. Plus it gets playmakers like Tone and Kerley some quickies and gets them in the flow.
Thirdly, I'd like to see us get some two TE action going and get these boys in the mix. Use them to accentuate the run game. Flex them out and get them favorable match-ups in space. Use them in some trips sets to have a big body out there blocking for bubble screens. Throw them a couple bubble screens. One thing I'd really like to see is an unbalanced set, with Vlad as essentially a jumbo TE on the right side next to Howard, with Winslow and Cumberland in a tight bunch next to Brick on the left; we could do some funky stuff out of that formation. SS has to honor the strength of the run set with Vlad and Hunter side by side. But the FS and weakside LB have to have eyes on Cumberland and Winslow. Pound the rock a couple times behind Howard and Vlad, then try to catch them over the top with Hill or Tone on the outside. Seems like money to me. Thats money, right?
Last thing I want to see, is us blitzing from Locker's right side. I want to flush him to his left and force him to try to make righty throws while rolling left. And if he does escape the pocket and tucks and runs, make sure we get a lick on him before he gets out of bounds. I want him to associate leaving the pocket with getting a beating.
