I did something rare yesterday, I took a whole day off while the Jets were resting and watched all of the NFL action yesterday. What I did notice is that the notion that the Jets cant make the playoffs is absurd, im not saying they are but there is a lot of mediocrity out there. The Broncos seem like the best team in league for now, but no team in this league is a shoe in for a victory every week.
The NFC east is mediocre at best but just look how the favorites this year have played in our conference:
Baltimore Ravens-lucky to beat Cleveland and too many defections on that team to have equaled success from last year.
Pittsburgh Steelers- they just looked old and slow last week and Polumanu will get injured eventually.
Dirtbags up I95- "they are who they thought we are" they were very lucky to beat the Jets last Thursday. Cincinnati Bengals- didn't look great against Bears last week but it seems this team cant beat anyone good when it counts.
Miami Dolphins- I really like Joe Philbin but I don't think they are that much better than the Jets.
Houston Texans- same soft team as last year, Deandre Hopkins is a big upgrade on offense for them, but I don't trust Kubiak or Schaub in a big spot.
I don't think its out of the realm of possibility that the Jets cant make the playoffs they have glaring issues of their own, but so does everyone else. and they are far from being the 32nd ranked team in the NFL also. I know its only week 2 but we can dream, can we?
