I just finished watching the game, and the defense put me through the ringer. People like to complain about the receivers, or Sanchez, but our inability to stop the hurry up offense might be more troubling. More and more teams are incorporating the no-huddle into their offenses. Our defense is supposed to be the backbone of this team. Without them, this team is nothing. If we can't stop the no-huddle, we are in for a world of hurt.
It seems that the main culprit is our defensive speed. I see a lot of slugs out there. It's not like we were playing a reputable, high-powered offense. We let Blaine Gabbert and his minions march down our throats. If we can't stop these guys playing a fast paced offense, how are we going to do against offenses like the Patriots? This is a very young defense. When i think of youth, I think of speed. That doesn't seem to be the case with us. I love David Harris, but watching him play is like watching continents shift. I know it is only our 2nd preseason game, but this is something that needs to be ironed out quickly.
