With rookie mini-camp opening up this weekend, its worthwhile to consider if any of our UDFAs have a shot to make the final 53 man roster or even to make an impact this season. While there were some write-ups on some of the UDFAs after the draft, information is hard to come by on these players, and I am wondering if anyone has good insight into whether we have any diamonds in the rough here.
Rich Cimini actually has a nice but brief rundown on our UDFA signings at the ESPN site today (despite his unwarranted snarkiness, he can do decent football related reporting when motivated). The names that seem to have the most potential, with the Jets needs figured in, include Rontez Miles, S, Troy Davis, OLB/DE (8 sacks this past year), Chris Pantale and Mike Shanahan, TEs, and 3 receivers, Zack Rogers, Antavious Wilson (each of which played in big time programs and were overshadowed by other highly drafted players), and Ryan Spadola.
Given the Jet's multiple needs, I wouldn't be surprised to see several of these players make the final 53. As always, it should be interesting to see if we hit lotto on any of them.
