By now you've heard the news. Idzik has let Mike Davis and Joe Bommartio go. This clearly isn't getting enough coverage as I'm not hearing the type of concern I would have expected.
Lets take a look at this move. The draft ended 4 days ago. What does that tell us? If Idzik wanted to fire these guys, why not do it as soon as he was hired? No, this was clearly a reactionary move due to the result of the draft.
I've heard from anonymous sources that the reason Davis and Bommartio go was that Idzik was expecting Fisher to be available at #9. Now, we didn't need a left tackle, and anyway it was obvious Fisher wasn't going to fall to #9, but there you go.
Additionally, everything points to the fact that Idzik felt tricked into taking Geno Smith at #39. He wanted Colin Klein to replace Tim Tebow, who was too popular with the media and so had to be cut. Idzik needs to be the biggest star on the team. Mark Sanchez will be left to handle the boring task of passing and running the offense, Klein would become a star on punt protection but he won't hog the limelight, leaving John Idzik to be the face of the franchise. There are rumours that Idzik has recovered from the coup that stopped him handing in the card with Klein's name on it, or signing him as a free agent. So we may expect to hear our 2014 first rounder will be traded to Texas for Klein's rights, sometime in the next week.
Now we know that none of the above makes any sense, yet all the evidence clearly points to Idzik believing it. Everything we now know about him shows that he simply won't be able to cut it in New York. It's really lucky the media refuses to print anything based on unconfirmed sources, but only publishes stories they can clearly substantiate. Otherwise, the flaws of John Idzik's character would be all that we would hear about, all day, every day.
Anyway, thankfully I am not as devoted to the facts as Manish Metha and Rich Cimini, and I can bring you these anonymous sources and the true reflection of the man we are trusting to lead the franchise. Everything seems to point to several more years of doom and gloom, now we have this reactionary, attention hugging, weak willed prima donna running our beloved team. I can only hope I am wrong.........
