Personally, I'm not a fan of Jason Cole. I think he comes across as a bit arrogant and a Jets hater (i.e. typical sports blogger). But I read a blog he posted today on Geno Smith which you can read here. I don't really care what Cole's opinions are, but some of the points he brings up about Geno Smith, if the sources are honest and accurate, make me ponder what we really have in Geno Smith.
Cole seems to imply that despite his draft status, Smith is convinced that he is a finished product that doesn't listen to coaches and has an overinflated opinion of himself. If this is true, combined with him being prone to fumble and get frustrated (leading to mistakes), I am seriously concerned that we may have drafted the new Mark Sanchez.
I believe that it's not fair to judge someone before they take the field - but that's the perfect of scouting. And if the scouting on Smith indicate that he is overconfident, bordering on arrogance, with a desire to be the best without working harder for it, it scares me.
Any thoughts on Cole's article or who we REALLY have in Geno Smith?
