Well Idzik traded Revis and we got a 1st this year and a conditional 4th for next year. I have to admit I'm a little disapointed in the picks we got. I bought into the hype and thought we were going to get a 1st, 3rd and 5th this year. Well it is what it is.
First thing I would do is try to trade the 13th pick this year to SF for the 31st pick and the 34th they got from KC. I would go ahead and trade our fifth rounder to NO for Ivory to give us a decent RB core. Notice I didn't say good or great. I believe that between Ivory and the other backs we either picked up or already had we can do ok in the running game and hope Ivory is actually a good back.
I know that many people hate the O linemen in the first round pick but I would go for either Cooper or Warmack with the #9 pick. With the 31st pick I would take Eifert and then Elam with the 34th. I realize that some of these are marginal for whether they would still be there or not however if Eifert is gone Elam should still bethere at 31 and then Ertz at 34.
Depending on who is still there at #39 I would take a pass rusher there has been plenty of up and down with the mocks and Damontre Moore, Werner, Okofor and a couple others should still be there. The question now is what to do with the third rounder Since we got a RB and TE I was torn between BPA QB or WR. Frankly I;m not really impressed with this years QB crop. I would rather go with a WR and Stedman Bailey will probably still be there.
Fourth round is another tough choice since we addressed WR,RB,FS,OLB,TE and guard already. I would go with one of Ryan at CB,TJ McDonald at safety or even Montgomery who is DE but I would switch to OLB. Fifth round went to NO for Ivory and that leaves 6th and 7th to get some more line depth since Colon is injury prone we would have to start Vlad if he went down.
I realize this is not an exciting draft but it addresses several key areas such as safety,OLB and O line which are key weaknesses. Since we didn't address any scoring positions except TE I don't expect to be playoff bound but hopefully we will be able to have a decent QB draft next year and a WR to go with him. Those together with the moves we make this year could make this team competitive again.
