Another Team Interested In Revis?

I was speaking to a friend who works for a professional football team and he told me something that supprised me greatly. He told me that another team might be interested in trading for Revis. This would explain some of the odd twist and turns that this trade has involved. It would also explain the unexpected "pause."

You know for some unexplained reason the Eagles cancelled a scheduled visit this week with the top CB in the draft; Alabama cornerback, Dee Milliner. This is confirmed by Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer who was told this by Milliner himself. Many people wondered why, and some have surmised this lack of interest may only be a smoke screen.

My friend told me the reason why this was done. As we all know it was rumored earlier this year that the Eagles were interested in Darrelle Revis. That rumor was denied. My friend told me however it was true, but it was too early in Revis' rehabilitation to indicate any interest in him. The Eagles did not want to start a process which would feed upon itself. Instead the Eagles signed CB's Cary Williams and Bradley Fletcher. But admittedly both are journeymen neither of whom is in the same class as Revis, if healthy, nor will they excite their fans and fill the stadium.

Revis is now running and it is now possible to ascertain if he will have any resemblance to his former self. He will be finishing his rehab at the Jets HQ, although he preferred to finish it in Arizona. The Jets have insisted Revis train and Rehab at their facility in NJ, even though he would prefer to do so with his trainer in Arizona and it is reported Revis is angry about this. It makes no sense, they would do this with no reason. It lessens the possibility Revis would extend his contract with them if they wanted to do so.However this was required because the Jets GM has a friendly visit scheduled with the Eagles GM sometime during this next week for no apparent purpose. It should surprise no one if Howie Roseman wanted to say a friendly "Hi" to Revis and ask how he was doing.

If, after this meeting, the Eagles entered into talks about what it would take to get Revis, we should not be astounded. After all, Philadelphia has comparable Cap space to Tampa Bay at over 25 Million dollars. Revis went to college in Pennsylvania, grew up there and has family there. It should also be remembered the Eagles biggest rival is that other team in New York, they play each other twice each year. The Eagles play the Jets in a preseason game this year, a game that is normally not sold-out at Jets stadium. This year it would be and business is business.

I do not know about you, but this seems to answer an awful lot of questions that I had. The Eagles have the fourth pick in the Draft, but they may trade down to 12, get another pick (another 3rd round) and make better offer then the TB Buc's.
