Mock draft with the 13th overall pick acquired from the Bucs
9th pick round 1: Barkevious Mingo OLB LSU: I think mingo fits right in with Rex Ryan's defense as an outside linebacker who can rush the passer and has deadly speed. However, I would pick Jordan or Ansah if either is still there but I highly doubt it. I don't think jarvis is the best fit for Rex Ryan's 3-4 which tends to favor speedier players at the outside linebacker spot.
13th pick round 1: Kenny Vaccaro S Texas : Vaccaro is the best safety in the draft class and he is a do-it-all type of player. He can cover, hit, and play in the box. With both starting safeties gone from last year this is surely a good pick.
Pick 39 round 2: Larry Warford OG Kentucky: I was really tempted to pick Zach Ertz but I decided after the Jets missing out on Chance with the 9th or 13th pick that a guard was the way to go. Warford should be a starter for many years to come, keep whoever are QB is off the ground and help establish running game with the running back we select in the next round.
pick 72 round 3: Jonathan Franklin UCLA: It's about time we draft an offensive weapon! Jonathan Franklin could be the best back in this draft and from what I'm seeing it's very possible he could fall to us here so keep your fingers crossed.
pick 106 round 4: Chris Gragg TE Arkansas: This guy is a little small for the TE position but is a great pass catcher which I think the Jets desperately need. Needs to improve blocking but the Jets still have Cumberland for those ground and pound type plays.
pick 136 round 5: Aaron Mallete WR Elon: Small-school reciver coming out of Elon but he is 6 foot 3 making the only WR taller than him in the draft Justin Hunter. He has a big body and you can throw the ball up high for him and let him use his size.
pick 168 round 6:Terry Hawthorne CB Illinois: Terry played offense and defense for the Illinois. He ran 4.31 at the combine and reads routes very well. Obviously, we need someone at CB because we got the 13th pick for Revis.
pick 199 round 7: Sean Renfree QB Duke: Again another player who didn't play against all-pro competition but he has good arm strength and there is no pressure for him to play right away or even at all. Low risk because he's in the seventh round and again no high expectations.
So there you have it our line-up would look like this after the draft.
QB: Sanchez, Garrard, Renfree
RB: Goodson, Franklin, Powell
WR: Holmes, Kerley, Mallete, Hill
TE: Gragg, Cumberland
DE: Coples, Wilkerson
ILB: Harris, Davis
CB: Cromartie, Wilson, Hawthorne
SS: Dawan Landry
FS: Kenny Vaccaro
