Since reading about Tony Romo's new contract extension with the Cowboys and the subsequent reactions(particularly Donovan McNabb's) my mind started racing in thinking about Sanchez's contract extension from last season and their comparable records.
Now before continuing, I know that Sanchez was bad, downright pitiful at times last season. I mean my eyes physically hurt at times watching some of his plays last year and that sucks when you're sitting in a crowded stadium! And I am also considering that the '09 and '10 seasons were more about our defense than our offense. To further distort this post, we are talking about Tannenbaum verses Jones as GM's...lol
Romo's win loss record from 2009-2012 was roughly 33 wins and 31 losses. Romo's career playoff record is 1-3.
Sanchez's win loss record from 2009-2010 was roughly 33 wins and 30 losses. Sanchez's career playoff record is 4-2. Fours of those wins were on the road and he did go to his respective division's championship game twice.
Romo's new contract will give him guaranteed money of $55 million (from early reports). Sanchez's guaranteed money from his rookie contract and his extension will pay him $50.5 million (28 million + 22.5 million). A $4.5 million dollar difference.
Is Jones trying to make Tannenbaum look good?
I think they both are dumb for paying that much for quarterbacks that haven't made it to the Superbowl but this is also the way the league we watch tends to run itself.
I just had to vent on this subject. Plus it can give ammunition for those Jet fans that have good friends who are Cowboy fans...lol
