Nick Bellore has made himself useful enough for the Jets to keep around the last two years. If you are a linebacker who does not get many snaps on defense, the only real use you have is to play well on special teams. Bellore has been a contributor to that unit with 25 tackles. That should be enough to keep the dirt cheap soon to be 24 year old on the roster for another year.
Can Bellore ever grow into a good enough player to get a shot at linebacker? While he has looked solid in preseason against fringe players and seems to find the football, there are questions as to whether he is athletic enough to ever be effective.
At the very least, Bellore's special teams play will keep him on the roster, and as long as you are on the roster, you have a shot to make yourself better and make an impression on somebody.
