New York Jets Rumors: Jets to Have Interest in Kevin Kolb?

USA TODAY Sports

Manish Mehta says the Jets are likely to have interest in Kevin Kolb if he is released by the Cardinals.

Kolb is a career 59.5% passer. He has 28 touchdowns against 25 interceptions. He was coached by Marty Mornhinweg in Philadelphia from 2006 to 2010.

He's a bit on an unknown because he has never held a starting job for an entire season. He has been Donovan McNabb's backup, the victim of Michael Vick's 2010 resurgence, and banged up.

Despite his pedestrian numbers, Kolb has shown flashes of quality play at points where he has been in a good situation. His numbers are dragged down a bit by mop up work he did with backups in Philadelphia and a disastrous offensive line in Arizona. He was off to a really good start in 2012 before his offensive line allowed 23 sacks in three games that got him hurt. Sometimes the quarterback is at blame for sacks, but Kolb was pressured around half the times he dropped back in 2012.

Kolb with a quality offensive line would probably be the best bet for the Jets. That would, however, require them figuring out both guard spots and being able to outbid other quarterback needy teams in a thin market. I don't like the odds.
