I'm not sure why this hasn't been posted here, but according to The Jets Blog, the Jets have reached out to Mark Sanchez for a contract restructure. Outside of the $27 million we should be freeing up after cutting Jason Smith, Bart Scott, and Calvin Pace, this could allow us to get even further under the cap and possibly keep one of Dustin Keller and Laron Landry.
Of course, Mark Sanchez has no financial incentive to restructure his deal. If he agrees to a restructure (maybe he gets all of his money as a bonus so his cap number would be much smaller), we'd be a lot better off for it.
