Sanchez was asked to be able to think quickly and make the quick accurate throws in the pocket.
He doesn’t seem to be able to do either, so I am unsure if we can keep blaming assistant coaches we don’t even know and work with.
We blame these coaches, but the player has to be able to make the plays. He was supposed to be able to make those kind of plays, have that kind of gift.
His passes constantly get batted down, and it’s not because he’s short. he over throws or under throws or checks down when there are open men. How many examples have we seen for four years?
If I did blame Jets coaching staff for one thing with Sanchez that I actually believe I can put a finger on, even though I do not work with these guys and am not a football coach, I’d blame them from taking the edge from him. Making such a big deal of him sliding for example (Joe Girardi thing). He obviously played best on the run, out of the pocket. He is an athlete and his play making came with spontaneity. Hi was very good right away when flushing himself out of the pocket (not even being forced). He seemed to play smarter on the run, out of the pocket.
And now look four years later. The new QB is supposed to run and abuse his body a little. Sanchez just wanted to be that guy four years ago.
If they let Sanchez be THAT Sanchez now, I would be all for giving him one more chance this coming season. As a fan, and if he still stunk as that type of QB, then obviously we move on.
