we are short at experienced safeties comming into this season. with Landry and bell likely leaving and Eric smith just being cut, why not bring in one of Rex's favorite players, Jim leonhard. we will most likely be starting a young safety, either from this draft or last years draft, so why not bring in a satiety why knows Rex's system and used to be the quarterback of the defence. he also had 2 picks this year (the same as Landry) with limmited playing time.

if he comes cheep the jets should sign him even if he will not start, to gain depth and experience at the safety position.
