Terrance Williams vs West Virginia (2012) (via TTN2810)
6-2, 205
2012: 97 rec, 1832 yds (!!!), 19 yards per catch, 12 TDs
Nice size. Uses his body really well. Excellent body control. Makes tough catches in traffic. Very adept on the sideline as well. He's a very smooth athlete with very sneaky speed. He doesn't look like he's moving that fast, but he consistently gets behind coverage for big plays despite the massive cushions he often receives. You don't beat cushions, with over the top help, unless you have great speed. He seems most comfortable on the outside, but he can play in the slot as well. He can high point it, using his size to his advantage. He can also make a quick move and steal yards after the catch. He can blow the top off of coverage. And he can work underneath. He was monstrously productive in 2012, so he no doubt has seen all types of coverages and schemes designed to stop him. He's beaten man, zone, over the top help, underneath help, double and triple coverages... He's a beast.
He dominated just about every game he played in. Against West Virginia he put up 17 catches for 314 yards (what!!!). Against Texas he had 10 for 183. Against Iowa State he had 13 for 190. Against TCU he had 3 for 163. Against Texas Tech he had 7 for 175.
The more I look at the talent in this year's receiver class, the more I like what I see. I wouldn't mind double-dipping at the position at all. And I think the odds are high that a bona fide stud will be there when we pick in round two. If we do take a receiver this year, I'd be really excited if it was Williams.
