Terrance West vs Eastern Illinois (2013) (via Aaron Aloysius)
2410 yards, 6.3 per, 40 TDs
Sometimes you hear about a guy and see some stats and say, "Damn, I gotta see some tape of this kid." Then you see some tape and you're all like, "Holy crap." Well... holy crap.
This is not just some FCS kid with blazing speed that just runs around and past everyone. No, he's got all the tools. ALL of them. Yeah, he can bounce any given play and explode down the sideline untouched in a blur. He also has the patience and tenacity to pick his way through traffic in tight quarters combat. He also has the balance and power to machete through through the thicket. He also has the vision and quickness to spot cutback lanes and create whiffs to slice through any defense with surgical precision. I also seen some willingness to smash his nose into a blitz in pass pro.
Some of my particular favorites in this tape:
- The long TD run at around 4:00. Nice patience, quick feet and explosive speed down the sideline for a HR.
- The 2-run sequence at around 6:00; the TD and the run to set it up. I really liked the bounce when he was initially bottled up and then the jump-cut back inside in one fluid motion. He made a tough run in a tight space look pretty easy.
- 7:00 is my fave. Dude is getting snuffed by penetration so he bounces to try and make something happen, but it looks like a 1 yard loss for sure. Then he just lowers the shoulder and bulls for a 6 yard gain. Holy crap.
- And of course, the beautiful cutback at around 9:00. Gorgeous.
I know you're wondering how come this kind of talent is playing at freakin Towson State. You can read about it here. I like this guy, man. I like him a lot. Holy crap.
