Nnamdi Asomugha, once labeled as the second best corner back in the league behind Darrelle Revis, will be cut from the San Francisco 49ers today, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.

Three offseasons ago the Jets were reportedly extremely close to adding Asomugha to their secondary, but at the last moment the Philadelphia Eagles swooped in.
It's been no secret that Asomugha has struggled since leaving Oakland in the 2011 offseason, but that being said, you wonder if the Jets will have interest here. Rex Ryan loves his cornerbacks. He's always said the team can never have enough. With the struggles of the secondary, specifically Dee Milliner—although he played better on Sunday—Asomugha may be a fit here, especially with the Jets entering their bye week.
Who knows what, if anything, Asomugha has left in the tank, but I would keep an eye on the Jets here.
In three games this season, Asomugha has recorded two tackles, zero interceptions and two passes defended.
