This is the 1st of many scouting reports I plan on posting on GGN for the upcoming draft. I will try and post as many scouting reports on guys in areas that we need. If anyone has any requests for players they would like me to scout, feel free to ask and I’ll do my best to accommodate as many as possible.
C.J Fiedorowicz TE Iowa 6’7" 265lbs
My draft Grade 3rd/4th round
2013 23Rec 230Yds and 5Td’s
2012 45Rec 433Yds and 1Td
2011 16Rec 167Yds and 3Td’s
C.J is the best blocking TE in this year’s draft. A behemoth of a guy, he uses his huge frame to keep leverage when blocking and shows a strong base when sealing off the point of attack on runs to his side. He seems to have no problems blocking bigger D-Line guys too. Has has the potential to be an every down player in the NFL and with some coaching could be the best blocking TE in the NFL( ex-Jet Ben Hartsock leads the way this year according to PFF) and a very good red zone and play action target.
Fiedorowicz has limited athleticism but he still uses it to good effect in the passing game. He consistently uses his much larger frame to box out and bully defenders but struggles to get in and out of his breaks. He won’t run past many defenders after the catch but shows the ability to power through tackles and gain extra yardage that way. Good hands and an above average route runner, he has plenty of room to improve in this area of his game.
Although not slow, his speed is limited. Won’t gain much separation in man coverage but he attack’s the ball at its highest point, making it almost impossible for the defender to make a play. He has a knack of finding the hole in zone coverage and sits down well for easy completions.
Overall I think he would be a very nice addition to our Offence. He would help improve our run game straight away and I would be very interested to see what type of scheme’s MM would come up with to best utilise his talents and size in the passing game. I think we have missed having a good blocking TE on our team. Our O-Line has regressed a lot over the last few years and although not a glamorous pick, having someone like C.J would be a must if we are to get better on Offence.
Here is some video of C.J in action. Hopefully this will give you a feel for what he could potentially bring to our Offence.
Feedback is always welcomed so feel free to let me know what you think. Thanks
