In the third part of this week's GIF series between the New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills, let's watch one of Sheldon Richardson's plays.
Third quarter, 7:21 remaining. The Jets are on the goal line, and it's fourth down. If they don't score here, it's a turnover. They're lined up in their jumbo package, which means there are two extra blockers on the right side and one on the left, along with Richardson and Chris Ivory lined up in the backfield. The Jets actually used Richardson as a fullback once before, against the Atlanta Falcons. On that play, Geno Smith threw a touchdown to Kellen Winslow.
Here, the Bills also have pretty much everyone on the line. Everyone knows it's a running play, it's just a question of if the Bills can stop it. At the snap, Richardson goes to fill the C gap, which is the one to the outside of the tackle. With Kiko Alonso leaping in the air to stop Ivory from doing the same, he gets shoved out of the way by Richardson. Richardson: 1, Alonso: 0.
