The Texans have claimed veteran linebacker Ricky Sapp on waivers from the Jets. They waived him to make room for Ed Reed.

Sapp was cut earlier in the week to make room for Ed Reed. This in effect makes the Ed Reed signing a trade between the Jets and the Texans of Sapp for Reed. It brings back memories of the 2012 Jason Smith for Wayne Hunter swap between the Jets and the St. Louis Rams in terms of probable impact.
This is newsworthy because the Jets have cut Sapp a few times and brought him back. Sapp is now not available. That is probably not a huge loss. Sapp just turned 27 this week and has not shown much to suggest he has a successful future of any kind in the NFL.
