Read the news last night that Brandon Moore was going to officially retire as a New York Jet. I was kind of happy to read that considering the Jets and the NFL in general's history of long time players getting cut, released, traded or just not signed by their original teams and bitterness that tends to fester.
I remember Moore being an interesting case because he was a defensive lineman in college who switched to offensive line in the pros. That kind of experiment usually doesn't work out but Moore made a 10 year career of it, including a Pro Bowl selection.
Brandon did agree to a contract this past summer with the Cowboys but couldn't get himself to board the plane and start his career over across country. Plus he didn't want to mess with his family situation so he just stayed home. I was curious why he did not receive an offer ( that I read of) from the Jets, considering we are thin in the area of guards. I always thought of Moore as a decent, serviceable lineman, not always great but good (and the Jets could use that even now).
So with that, it's nice to see Brandon want to end his career being known as a Jet-Lifer. Thank you Brandon Moore for your service to this team! I hope you will be remembered more than the butt that Sanchez crashed into and fumbled vs. the Pats in that infamous game!
