The Jets are very thin this week at WR and I hope we will not regret cutting a WR who reminded fans of Wayne Chrebet, the way Danny Woodhead did. I say this because today the Miami Dolphins promoted wide receiver Ryan Spadola from the teams practice squad to the active roster.
The 6-3, 200 pound Spadola joins Miami’s active roster after spending the past three weeks of the 2013 season on the teams practice squad. He originally entered the NFL with the New York Jets following the 2013 NFL Draft, signing with the team as an undrafted free agent on April 27, 2013. After making the Jets roster out of training camp, Spadola saw action in two regular season games and was inactive for one game prior to being released on October 5, 2013.
A three time All-Patriot league selection, Spadola played in 48 games over a four-year career at Lehigh University. He completed his career with 232 catches for 3,611 yards, the second most receptions and yards in school history, and 24 touchdowns. During his junior season he was an All-American selection after setting a Patriot League single season record with 1,614 receiving yards.
In the pre-season with the Jets he was one of their most productive WRs and was a fan favorite, as was Danny Woodhead before he was cut. .
