We saw how bad Millner really is. He was totally lost sometimes turning away from the play. Cro was not much better as the Jets secondary was unable to stop the long ball or short ball. This is by far the biggest problem that this defense needs to work on. Hopefully this will be addressed in the off season. Next week we play the Saints, if anything it should be a replay of this week.
So what we learned today was that NE is not as good a team as many think. This defense was able to keep NE under control for both games. That does not bode well for them. We learned just as in the Atlanta game that any team with a really good passing game can pick this team to shreds. The difference between this game and that game was that this offense was unpredictable and kept the Falcons on their heels the first half. In this game the offense was downright awful. They were so predictable that the Bengals either had a spy in the huddle or were great at anticipating what we would do. No run game at all and the pass game was of course again limited by not much of a receiving core. Hopefully this will also be addressed in the offseason.
I have high hopes for this team next year. I hear that the Browns are having a fire sale. Would it be worth throwing up a pick for Gordon? I don't think they would take a second, the rumor is it would take a first. Is it worth it? What do you think? I hope that this off season we get 2 quality receivers as Holmes will not be back in my opinion. Think the Browns would take Millner and a third round pick? Just kidding no one would take Millner he is horrible.
I believe Rex will be back next year. The team should be 4-5 going into the bye and could easily win 4 more games this year. If we address the secondary and receivers we could be a playoff team next year.
