With the trade deadline fast approaching, the New York Jets should strongly consider trading for Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew. The 28 year old running back has had a difficult 2013 season with only 316 years rushing and 2 touchdowns. This has been a down year for Jone-Drew, which makes it the perfect chance for the Jets to steal one of the games best backs. With the Jaguars being the worst team in football, it's inevitable that they're going to begin the rebuilding process sooner then later. If the Jets were to offer a few draft picks, I think Jacksonville may look to dump their best player. With his production decreasing and a contract looming, the Jaguars could consider dealing Jones-Drew. If the Jets offered say the third round pick from the Bucs and a fourth round pick next year, I think the Jaguars might pull the trigger on the deal. Why should the Jets get Jones-Drew. Easy, he's still one of the best backs in football. But wait a minute what about his lack of production? Come on he plays for Jacksonville a team with no quarterback, and offensive line. Plus they've been losing for years. Just being on a competitive team could light a fire within Jone-Drew and he can regain his once dominant form. On the Jets he would thrive. Ground and pound running game, better offensive line, great defensive, and a quarterback that is actually decent. I'm not saying the Chris Ivory or Bilal Powell are bad running back, but I think they are better as complementary pieces rather then the feature back. With Jones-Drew in the fold, Ryan can have the feature back he's been waiting for and Geno Smith will get a desperately needed weapon. Not just in the rushing attack, but Jone-Drew is excellent in pass protection and catching the ball out of the backfield. If the Jets are serious about the playoffs in 2013, they should be calling Jacksonville to see if the Jaguars are interested in this trade. I'm not saying trade a first round pick but if you could get him for a mid round pick or a couple late round picks, the gamble could be worth it.
