The San Diego Chargers have announced Indianpolis Colts Vice President of Football Operations Tom Telesco as their new general manager.

The Jets had expressed interest in speaking with Telesco about their general manager job but were rebuffed as Telesco was already hot and heavy with San Diego.

The fact the Jets wanted to speak with Telesco is a discouraging sign. Along with Scott Cohen and Brian Gaine, this team has seemingly turned its attention to second and third tier candidates. Just a few days ago, it felt like the Jets were surely going to get one of the top names on the market. That looks more and more doubtful now.

If there is some silver lining, San Diego was a very attractive opening with a franchise quarterback in place and great weather. So that job isn't there anymore to entice people the Jets might want.
