Just a short follow up to news yesterday. The Jets granted the Bills permission to speak with Mike Pettine about their defensive coordinator position.

Pettine has received permission to talk to Bills

Pettine's contract is up in a few weeks so this was kind of a formality. The Jets probably aren't going to pay top dollar for a defensive coordinator with Rex Ryan as head coach and a more than qualified replacement in Dennis Thurman on the coaching staff.

I would like to see Pettine get out of the AFC East, but the Jets should be just fine on defense even if he leaves.
