Assuming no trades because everyone complains when I do, well stick to our original picks
2013 NFL Draft (The first 4 round selections are predicated on BPA, and since we have so many needs, odds are the picks will fill needs)
Round 1. Pick 9 overall - DE/OLB Dion Jordan Oregon - Would step in immediately at Sam OLB (strong outside backer), lined up behind Wilkerson to complete a duo similar to the Smiths in SF. Can cover athletic TEs and would feed off of WIlkerson to get to the QB. 9 sacks as a rookie sounds about right
Round 2. 39 overall - SS Philip Thomas Fresno State - We cant afford to resign Landry, but Thomas has the potential to be just as good. He can cover, hit like a LB, and stuff the run as an 8th man in the box.
Round 3. 72 overall - CB Tyrann Matheiu LSU - Hear me out. He's the BPA, and we don't necessarily need a CB, but his skills would be much better suited at the pro level to play a ballhawking FS in the backfield reading QBs eyes and making plays. Assuming we keep Revis and Cro, that would be a scary secondary. The NFL is such a copycat league, many teams are going to try and mirror what the 49ers have done in SF and the Ravens have done in Baltimore. Many of our picks should mirror theirs because they're both role model franchises for teams like the Jets
Round 4. 103 overall -DE/OLB Brandon Jenkins Florida State - Many people think going 4 straight players in the draft on defense is crazy, but he is the BPA and was once considered a top 10 pick before getting hurt. Word is he's getting healthy and would be a steal in the middle of the draft. This pick would solidify our pass rush and give us a front 7 with studs all around. He can play with his hand in the dirt and would step in immediately behind Coples at Will OLB (weak side OLB) and put pressure on the QB. Offenses would have a very difficult time stopping Wilkerson and Coples with a bull rush and Jordan and Jenkins coming around the edge. Good luck stopping that front New England
Round 5. 134th overall - RB Marcus Lattimore South Carolina - Once considered a top 10 pick, Lattimore got hurt but is coming back healthy. He took a huge hit on draft day because of his injury, but the slide ends here. He replaces Greene as the No. 1 back with Powell and McKnight to see some action on screens and 3rd downs in our new WCO.
Round 6. 166th overall - TE Michael Williams Alabama - Impressed everyone at the senior bowl, he may go much higher than this on actual draft. But as for now, he's expected to go 5th - 6th round. He can lineup in Jumbo sets and is deceptively quick as a receiving target. I have a funny feeling Keller will somehow be back and healthy, so Williams would be the 2nd TE and can push LBs
Round 7. 199th overall - OLB Cornelius Washington Georgia - Simply BPA, add depth to OLB position that seriously lacks any depth at all
Free Agency
Cuts:
Bryan Thomas (he may be a FA anyway)
Resignings:
RG Brandon Moore - 2yrs $6M RT
Austin Howard - 2yrs $1.5M ( Marty really likes him and he would excel in a WCO with QB throwing quick routes to open up the field for big running and throwing plays)
TE Dustin Keller - 2yrs $8M Mike DeVito 2yrs $4M
Signings:
QB Jason Campbell 1yr $1.5M to compete with Sanchez for starter. We're really scraping the bottom of the barrel with this signing, but we have to find someone to compete with dirty Sanchez and a stop gap until we find our franchise QB next season with Johnny Football or Teddy Bridgewater
Depth Chart:
QB: Sanchez, Campbell, McElroy
RB: Marcus Mattimore, Bilal Powell, Joe McKnight
FB: move Josh Baker to FB
XWR: Santonio Holmes, Clyde Gates
YWR: Stephen Hill, Jeremy Kerley
TE: Dustin Keller, Michael Williams, Jeff Cumberland
LG: Unfortunately I think Matt Slauson hits free agency and we're stuck with Vlad Ducasse at starting LG
C: Mangold, Caleb S
RG: Brandon Moore
RT: Austin Howard
LDE: M WIlks
DRE: Coples, Mike DeVito
NT: Kenrick Ellis, pick up someone off the street
SOLB: Dion Jordan, Garrett McIntyre
WOLB: Brandon Jenkins, Cornelius Washington
MLB: David Harris, DeMario Davis, Nick Bellore backup

SS: Philip Thomas, Antonio Allen
K: Sign someone better than Folk please
At seasons end, we let Revis hit the open market with hopes he hears all offers and takes our (being the highest) to remain a Jet for life. You ask: Why would he comeback if we suck? Great question, the Jets don't suck, Sanchez does, Hill sucked as a rookie, and Holmes and Keller were both injured. Assuming they come back healthy and we take a franchise QB in 2014, we may be only a few players away. We would have to address the OLine sooner rather than later, but given the talent level on defense, Revis may just come back
I think hell take: 6 years $90 million with $45 million being guaranteed with base salaries of $16 million for the first 4 years of the deal with totals $64M. Then the next two years $9 million with incentives like making the all Pro team would maximize the deal making that $9M turn into $13M.
