Chase Daniel, I remember watching this kid at Missouri back in 2006-09. I liked Chase, he was a fun quarterback to watch.
In 2007 he finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting, became the third Tiger in School History to ever finish in the top-10. He was also voted 2007 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year.
Scouts had Daniel among the best quarterbacks in the 2009 draft, but had concerns about his height and whether his time playing in a spread offense would translate to the NFL. Daniel ended up going undrafted and was picked up as undrafted free agent by the Washington Redskins.
After eventually being waived by the Redskins, Daniel signed on to the New Orleans Saints practice squad on September 6, 2009. The Saint would cut Daniel 3 times in 09 before squarely beating out Patrick Ramsey for the back up job in 2010.
Chase is a good quarterback in his 3 years starting at Missouri he Threw 101 touchdowns to 41 interceptions threw for 12,515 yards, all with a 148.9 QBR and a 68.0 PCT. Not to mention every year Daniel's PCT and QBR never dipped, it got better and better. Could u imagine if Mark Sanchez had those kind of numbers in the three years following his rookie season?...
Another big factor in getting this young man is he has got to sit behind and pick the mind of future hall of famer Drew Brees for the past 4 years, thats a triple plus in it's self. He has learned how to be a constant professional and a leader sitting behind Brees. That is something the Jets terribly need right now on the offensive side of the ball and in the locker room in general.
2013 will be Daniel's big chance, it's to bad he didn't get a lot of chances to showcase it. I for one have seen plenty of footage including preseason footage and i like what i see, we would defiantly need to get him some weapons at WR, a decent running game, and O-line that can block better.
I really hope the jets look into Chase as i think he could help us, once regarded as the best QB in the 2009 draft, albeit it wasn't a strong draft QB-wise, none the less Chase ended up in a better situation than most in that class, considering where he got to go play and learn.
It will defiantly be interesting to see where Chase ends up, hopefully its with us, as he would smear Sanchez for the starting job. As for now we are stuck wondering just who in the hell is going to be our next GM. I would say sometime this week sounds about right seeing as we have an off-season to attend to. Thanks for reading again, hope you enjoyed, talk to ya soon.
