Brian Costello reports Jets assistant general manager Scott Cohen will get an interview for the general manager job.

Jets will interview an in-house candidate for the GM job - asst. GM Scott Cohen, according to a source.

Cohen has worked with the Jets since 2008. He was reportedly one of Tannenbaum's most trusted underlings. He has a degree from UMass, Tannenbaum's alma mater. You can see the connection.

You can only hope this is a courtesy interview. There isn't much more Woody Johnson could do to squander good will than make an internal hire. Cohen worked a lot in pro personnel. Think of the gems the Jets have brought to Florham Park from other teams lately like Chaz Schilens. Think about how shocked they were by how bad of a thrower Tim Tebow was even though anybody watching Tebow in Denver on TV could have told you that. That's the bang up work by the pro personnel department.

I also hope this isn't going to be a situation like with Brian Schottenheimer in 2009 where he's given a chance to interview and does "well" enough to be forced onto the new general manager.

Let's not go here, Woody.
