I admit that I'm still disappointed about this past weekend. I can't say I'm angry, because it's a game we were expected to lose. But I'm definitely disappointed. So this weekend, against our hated rivals the Miami Dolphins, here is what I want to see from the New York Jets:
- Defensive Domination - I want the defense to get revenge for this past weekend's coverage, pass rushing, and tackling woes. Blanket the Dolphins' weak receiving corps. Hit Ryan Tannehill, over, and over, and over again. Make Reggie Bush pay every time he crosses the line of scrimmage. I want interceptions, sacks, tackles-for-loss, you name it. The defense has to come out angry at the way they were embarrassed last week, and crush an inferior opponent.
- Offensive Efficiency - The offense has flashed brilliance at points, and at others has looked like they're still coached by Brian Schottenheimer. I want Tony Sparano to come back to South Beach and make the Dolphins regret letting him go. Mark Sanchez has looked like a whole new quarterback at points, and it's time for him to gain that consistency.
- Aggressiveness - The theme of my previous two points are aggressiveness. I want that at every level. We want to be a smash mouth, run-it-down-your-throat team. This isn't a team built on finesse. This is a team that wants to be made of steel, and it can't crumple like aluminum. It's time to gain that aggressive edge back. If you want something, like Rex Ryan says he wants the Lombardi Trophy, you have to go out there and take it. Nobody is just going to give it to you.
