I have been a jet fan since I watched superbowl 3 with my dad way back when. It was exciting and amazing to watch Joe predict a win and then low and behold the Jets pulled it off. That team had a lot in common with this team. First there was a Ryan as a coach. Then there was a wild QB called Broadway Joe that every one said was overhyped and not living up to potential. The Jets went out on a limb and spent a bundle to get him (sound familiar?). They also had a lot of talent on defense and some crazy recievers.
This years team has the same feel to me. Once again we have a Ryan as a coach. We have Sanchez who the Jets went all out to get and has been called not living up to his potential. We have some crazy receivers in Holmes, Kerley and now Hill all with great potential. The running back we have reminds me of Emerson Boozer. Of course this years defense I believe has the potential if all goes right to be great. Not just really good but downright great. If everyone stays healthy and I know thats asking alot we have the best cornerbacks in the league. Revis, Cro and Wilson I would match up against anyone. With Landry and Bell out there we are in pretty good shape and while they may not be the best covering safeties in the league I feel sorry for whoever catches anything near them because they are going down. Antonio Allen looks to be a really good pick up this year as well as D Davis. The defensive line is a monster. If and of cause thats a big if Wilkes and Ellis take the next step and Coples plays well we can really shut down alot of offenses.
I believe the key to this year is the offensive line. If they can keep it together long enough to establish a passing game the running game should be effective. Of course the really big question is can the offense score points for us and not for the other team.
So what do you think? Anyone out there remember that other team? Its been a long time but I can't remember another team that had so much possible upside while still having the possibility of a huge downside.
