which new or emerging player are YOU most excited to watch?

Well it's been a pretty theoretical-tumble-weed time when it comes to relevant football news, since this is the time of year when everyone takes a few weeks off before grinding through training camp and the season for the next 5-7 months. Quite frankly, they should, that's a LONG time to be playing a sport as demanding as football. Either way, it means no yummy news for us to chow down on. So to kill some time, why not give our thoughts on the new additions and up-and-coming players that we're looking forward to seeing this season?

I'll start by giving a few of mine. I think the acquisition that i'm most excited about (most of you are gonna disagree methinks) is LaRon Landry. Now, to be perfectly honest, I don't really watch a lot of Redskins games and i'm too cheap to get that game replay thing on NFL.com, so I haven't seen him play very often. I have to resort to looking at highlights. I'm well aware that highlight reels are just all of the good plays and none of the bad plays of a player, but how can you not get excited watching highlight reels like this and this? If there's any kind of defensive player that I love to watch, it's one of those upper-tier, hard hitting safeties that can really be an enforcer and commander of the defense. I'm aware that he's often criticized for poor coverage ability, some people even saying he's one of the worst coverage safeties in the NFL (although I would assume that's a bit of exaggeration). As i've said, I'm not really a good witness to confirm or deny this, but Rex has talked about how athletic he is to alongside his great run support and blitzing skills. Even saying, "Wait till you see this guy". Yes, Rex talks up everyone, and those videos on the Jets website are all positive PR stuff, but I doubt he's going to be any worse than what we had last year. I'm also aware that there's the injury risk, but all indicators seem to be that he's doing fine right now. Feel free to disagree here, but let me enjoy my excitement.

I'm also really looking forward to seeing big Mo Wilkerson. Having to sub in for Shaun Ellis of all players in your rookie season in a position that can take some time to learn in a lockout season, and holding up as nicely as he did is rather impressive to me. Now he's got the full off-season to get bigger, stronger and has even drawn comparisons to Darelle Revis in terms of his dedication to perfecting his craft. Even if it's Rex talking up his guys, drawing THAT kind of a comparison is still rather encouraging. I'm expecting big things from him this year. I don't really know what to say in terms of numbers, but I do want to see what this physical specimen can do for us this year.

Finally, Stephen Hill. Yes, he's a rookie. Yes, he's really raw. But you can't teach that size-speed combo, and you can't ignore it either. I've even seen draft analysts make this point, his presence alone needs to be respected, since he can burn you on a deep route. Something that we really didn't have last year. There's not really any pressure on him to be the go-to no. 1 guy right away, since we do have capable targets in Santonio Holmes, Dustin Keller, and Jeremy Kerley to work underneath. I really think that given a few years, he can turn into a fantastic receiver for us, while giving us some instant gratification in terms of helping to open things up.

Now everyone, who you all most excited to watch this season that's either new, or on the rise?

P.S. This is supposed to be a happy thread so let's try not get TOO contentious down there.
