JETS TO USE MORE 4 MAN FRONTS

Just read the article that says the Jets will use more 4 man fronts and get a better pass rush. They said with the personnel they have this is a better fit to develop the pass rush they want. To some of us fans who wanted a strong pass rush and add this to a dominant defense this is music to our ears. The Jets even said in some games especially some AFC teams they might hardly use the 3-4 if at all.

Dunbar is teaching a more pass rushing techniques along with stopping the run. With 4 strong DL in the front, this will be more effective. I think the Jets realize that the DL is even more of a strength with the addition of Coples, the continued improvement of Wilks, and the major improvement of Ellis. In another article I read that Rex said that Ellis was one of the best surprises this year. He lost a little weight and gain more strength and in my opinion the 45 days in Jail will make him more hungry and a better person. Some humility will make him stronger.

Finally they are getting it. With the best CB combo in the league and a strong pass rush it's time to dominate. They also mention in practice that in some situations in practice they had a match up of Coples and Pace having to be blocked by a RB. That is a good match up and if 2 can get to the QB and there is only 1 RB to block then the time for pressure and to put the hurt on the QB is coming. In 2009 we have the top defense even in points allowed but we were below average in sacks. 2012 if we can get the dominance back with the sacks and pressure, WOW it will be a fun years for us. I'm not to worried about the offense if we dominate on defense and give the ball to the offense more, especially if we get the ground and pound going again. The FO for all their stupidity in the past and even some this year has made some good progress in new coaches and players.

Though many of us posted back and forth about the needs of the Jets and some wanted to get more offense going in FA and the draft, but I'm happy with the direction we are going, I wanted way more defense. I have said it many times don't be fooled that we were 5th in total defense, we were 20th in points allowed, broke down late in games, and was very bad in sacks and pressure. Getting more and more excited to the upcoming season. What do you all think?
