Forgive me for saying this, but the idea of having Matt Simms even bother competing with Greg McElroy for the #3 QB seems like a pointless endeavor. There is not nearly enough high-quality game-tape of Simms to justify a belief that he can come into a game if one or both of our QBs are injured.
That being said, there is, as always, a possible alternative motive for signing him - picking his brain about his brother Chris. You may or may not know that Chris Simms, a former NFL QB, is now a coaching assistant for...you guessed it! Our good old friends in Foxborough!
As the team has done so noticeably in the past, the signing of Matt Simms may be nothing more than a smokescreen for a chance to get some info about his brother's coaching style and what his players will learn, etc.
But maybe there really is more to Matt Simms than meets the eye (or doesn't). What do you think?
