I have been seeing quite a few different writers bash the Jets already this year. I understand when fans from other teams do this but sports writers not so much. I saw one article where several thought the Jet defense would drop out of the top 10 in the league. To me this makes no sense. They have improved every aspect of the defense over last year.
There is a new line coach who is perfect for implementing what many believe will be a return to the great 4-6 defense. Whether this defense can work on the Jets only time will tell.I believe it can and it will. Yes Coples will be a big part of this. He is a rookie and no way to know if he is what we all hope he can be until he hits the field. The front four will vary that is Dunbars trademark to keep the players fresh and not wear out. The two safety positions are a question but Bell will work out as an upgrade to Smith the real question is Landry. I think we got a steal with Allen and while he probably won't be a starter this year maybe by the following year he wil be able to step up. Lets not talk about the corners we all know who plays those positions. Linebacker is a question but no worse than last year and Davis is Barts replacement, he will learn this year and hopefully step up next year. All told I think this defense is in good shape could it be better? Every defense could be better but this team will be ready when the season starts.
Lets talk avbout the offense a little bit. The line is the same with one big difference. Hopefully no injuries and a much simpler scheme to play. Hunter is still the right tackle but I will be willing to bet he stands up and plays a decent season. Will he make the pro bowl no but I believe he will be better.
Recievers have Holmes always a question, lets see which one shows up last years or the year befores. Kerley will be better and of course the big question is S Hill. Well this team and Hill were custom made for each other same basic type of offense except the Jets will be option only sometimes . However running the ball with Sanchez at Qb and Hill blocking for Greene or Ganaway (another Jet draft steal) will be big time. How many people remember all the blocks Edwards used to throw to open up the runs? With this type of offense Sanchez will do a good job. Will he be Tom Brady or Peyton Manning I think not but thats not what the Jets need. They need a guy who can move the ball wear out the opposition defense and not repeat not throw picks or fumble. What will happen we will soon see but my money is in Vegas on the Jets
