So I have got a lot of time on my hands with summer in full swing. So I decided to take a non biased approach to predicting what will happen during the regular season. The main reason for this post is to provide rationale for why I think we will make some of the offseason moves we will next year. To be honest, I don't see how we are going to make playoffs this year. Here is how I see things playing out for the Jets:

Week 1: Home: Buffalo- Loss

Reason: A revamped defense, and pretty good offense will win a low-scoring match. Their defense may not be better than ours, but I cannot imagine our ground and pound offense beating a team with Mark Anderson, Marcel Dareus, Mario Williams, and Kyle Williams (if healthy) on the defensive line being ran through.

Week 2: Away: Steelers- Win

Reason: I actually think that we can win this game. The Steelers have an aged defense and an above average offense. Steelers typically start off pretty slow, and I just don't think the Steelers will have the same dominant defense they once had. It'll be close but I think the Jets pull this one out. (And yes, I do see how saying that beating the Steelers and losing to the Bills doesn't make too much sense; but again it is a gut feeling)

Week 3: Away: Dolphins- Win

Reason: No explanation needed

Week 4: Home: 49ers- Loss

Reason: Niners have an elite defense that only allowed one rushing TD in the regular season. No Wildcat can mess with that. They may not have the most proficient offense, but they will utilize Vernon Davis.

Week 5: Home: Texans- Loss

Reason: Texans will be making a serious run for the SB this year barring some devastating injuries. Best defense in the AFC and one of the best multi-dimensional offenses will beat us for the first time in franchise history. I see a 42-13 blowout.

Week 6: Home: Colts- Win

Reason: Colts are in rebuilding mode. Jets win 27-13.

Week 7: Away: Patriots- Loss

Reason: We have no safety to match up with Gronkowski. Although they do not have any threatening run game, they will be able to exploit the TE mismatches they have against us. I think we lose 27-21.

Week 8: Home: Dolphins- Win

Reason: We will be exhausted from 5 rough games (Colts and Dolphins don't count as tough games) and still pull it out against the weaponless Dolphins; Dolphins are the biggest mess in the NFL and no longer have Sparono to motivate them. We win a close one 24-17.

Week 10: Away: Seattle- Loss

Reason: This is the toughest one to call so far, but from everything that I've read Seattle is one of the hardest places to play and I think that this game can go either way. Advantage home team.

Week 11: Away: Rams- Win

Reason: The Rams improved in the offseason, but outside of an aging Steven Jackson they have no weapons on offense. Jets win 31-10.

Week 12: Home: Patriots- Lose

Reason: No answer for the TE duo

Week 13: Home: Cardinals- Win

Reason: This is for sure a win if we won the previous two games. But regardless of the previous outcomes, Kolb is pathetic. I never understood the hype with him and we are fortunate to have two really good CB's.

Week 14: Away: Jacksonville- Win

Reason: Again, a poor QB. Should be an easy win.

Week 15: Away: Titans- Win

Reason: I see a down year for the Titans. They got worse on defense (lost Finnegan), C2K is hit or miss, and even if Jake Locker is healthy he would have to win on the run. Can't see it happening for the Titans.

Week 16: Home: Chargers- Win

Reason: We have always had their number. Ryan Matthews is overrated and Rivers has no one legitimate to throw to besides an aging ex-elite Antonio Gates.

Week 17: Away: Buffalo- Lose

Reason: Buffalo is home, and I believe that they'll be in the hunt if they are fully healthy. They win this game to make the playoffs. With this loss I think that we are likely eliminated.

If these predictions are right we are looking at a 9-7 record. However I may have gone with my gut a little too much. So I think we are more likely to end the season 7-9 or 8-8 but we'll go with my gut for the end results.The way that I have the AFC playing out goes like this:

In this season we face Vernon Davis, and Gronkowski x2. I believe that those player will be the main reasons why we lose those three games. We have no one to match them. We have a tough early schedule and if we do end up losing to the Bills in week 1, then things could get out of hand quick. We could actually have a losing season it could get that bad.

Next part is about what I would think would happen after a 9-7 non playoff season.
