Round one is in the books and we have a new toy to get excited about in Quinton Coples . I'm sure this makes the vast majority of Jet fans but lets take a closer look at this pick . Is he the 3-4 OLB that can be our double digit sack guy or is he another DE to eat up blockers ? Is he going to be used more as a 4-3 DE where his skill set is better utilised ? MY guess is it will be a combination of all 3 .

I have heard people say that this was a Rex Ryan pick but i have a feeling that Mike T had more influence than most people think and here's why. Mike DeVito is in the last year of his contract and Tanny loves to use draft picks as bargaining tools when it comes to renegotiations that are upcoming . If this might be the case then what else might we expect from the rest of the draft .

Well next year 4 of our other top FA's are Brandon Moore ,Dustin Keller ,Shonn Greene and Matt Slauson . Could a Guard be higher up the list of priorities than we think ? If Tanny thinks he needs some extra leverage in bringing back Slauson or Moore then i would expect him to us one of our next 2 picks on that position . Remember we are almost at the top of our cap for 2013 and if Tanny sees this as a cost effective way of getting one of these guys back cheap then i think he will explore the option of drafting a Guard very soon . If he doesn't do this then maybe Tanny has actually changed the way he uses the draft .
