Hey Folks. Been reading the form for a few years now and really enjoy it. I'm a huge Jets fan north of the boarder. Here's my first post:
The other day amongst all of the draft hype I read that Trent Richards is one of the players that the Rams are thinking of taking. I know they have one of the best backs in the league so why would they?
Steven Jackson will be 29 at the start of the year and sitting on a big ass contract. The Rams have more wiggle room than most as far as cap space but it's still a business at the end of the day and the receiver pool is so strong they could get a quality receiver in the second round. This would allow them to go nuts in free agency post draft and pick up some of the quality players who are going to get cut post draft. Also the Rams have a ton of high picks right now for the next few years so they could package a few future picks and translate them into picks for this draft.
If the Jets were to trade Shonne Greene to the Rams for Steven Jackson plus a third of fourth rounder we could pull it off although it would be a little tight with the cap room we have left. They'd get a good insurance policy and free up allot of cap room while we'd get a solid blue chip back and a later round pick to plug holes with.
It's a risky move because depth is such an issue for us right now but seeing a back like Jackson in green and white again would be awesome. He'd fit our new OC's style and the O-Line would love to block for him. If we could get Braylon back for the minimum as well our offense could be scary as hell.Shonne Greene has about as much wiggle as Betty White and the speed of corgi. If we're going to be a real ground and pound team we need a workhorse who will make it happen from time to time while taking pressure off of Sanchize.
-Trade back in the first for an extra 2nd, Pass Rusher in the first round
-Safety and OL in the second
-Tons of picks for depth in the later rounds
