In an effort to atone for my recent negative contributions to this great site I've tried to come up with positive idea. Since, for whatever reason, we have an increase in new members who have expressed an interest in learning more about the Jets in the upcoming season; I thought the longer term fans could introduce them. We could each add a little bit of not widely known info about a certain player. My example after the jump (it's my first time posting and am not 100% sure I am doing this right so please be forgiving/patient if I screw it up).

Last year, my son's senior year of HS, he decided he didn't want to go to college. Based on academic record, he had more scholarship offers than I could count and received a nomination to West Point. Unfortunately, he refused to apply to any colleges and basically stayed in his room for 2 months. I cried every day because I didn't know what to do.

I remembered reading an article about Scott. The article mentioned that he had replaced his old High School's bleachers after they had been stolen (presumably to be sold for scrap metal). The article also mentioned he went back to Southern Illinois to complete his degree after signing with the Ravens. Clearly, Scott felt completing his education was important. Feeling desperate, I wrote a letter to Scott hoping he could help convince my son to go to college.

I came home one night to "Scott, Bart" on my caller id. Needless to say, my son was NOT happy that I had written the letter and did not pick up the phone or return the call. I will never forget that he took the time to reach out to us.

FYI - It seems my son was just not ready to go last year but will be going in the fall.
